Hotel Museum
A boutique hotel where the lighting had to carry three different moods without changing fittings. Warm, low-level light holds the lounge and bar together, while concealed sources in the corridors and the headboard niches let each guest room feel calm rather than lit.
One building, three atmospheres
The ground floor moves from lounge to bar to restaurant without a wall between them, so the scheme separates the areas by brightness and colour temperature instead. Table-height pools of warm light mark where people sit; the circulation between them is left deliberately dimmer, which is what makes the floor feel larger than it is.
Rooms that switch off
In the guest rooms the fittings are kept out of sight, light comes from the headboard recess, from under the joinery and from a single adjustable reader. Guests can take a room down to almost nothing without losing their way to the door, which matters more in a hotel than any feature fitting.
